Jean Geran – Founder and President
Jean has worked on international child protection and related policy issues in many capacities. She currently is a Senior Fellow at Sagamore Institute and has had several speaking engagements about the importance of data and technology for child protection. She has chaired a working group on Kinship, Guardianship and Adoption in six African countries for the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute. While working at Legatum Institute in London, she designed and launched a global advocacy effort called the EACH Campaign to ensure that each child grows up in a safe family. She has been a Member of the Policy Planning Staff at the US Department of State responsible for issues including human rights, trafficking in persons, child protection, refugee policy, and governance. She served as the Director for Democracy and Human Rights on the National Security Council, as Advisor on UN Reform and as an Abuse Prevention Officer for USAID in Iraq. She has conducted research and program evaluations for NGOs, universities and international organizations and received her BSBA in business administration from Georgetown University, her MS in rural development from Michigan State University, and her Ph.D. in development studies from the University of Wisconsin‐Madison. Over 15 years, she has developed important relationships with policymakers, corporate leaders, international organizations and philanthropists who will be the base of support for Each inc. She currently lives in Oshkosh, WI with her husband and four children.
Jonathan Larson – Chief Technology Officer
Jonathan founded Innovative Crest, Inc, which invests in the development of technology and communication platforms that bridge disconnected paths to resources. He is currently co-founding a group of companies that are focused on risk management and logistics technologies. Jonathan grew up in Third World countries as a child of dedicated missionaries. Later in life, he continued this journey as he went on to work abroad with youth and orphanages in the U.S. and Eastern Europe.
Natalie Gonnella-Platts – Director of Communications and Social Media
Natalie has extensive experience in policy research, communications and campaign development, digital engagement and event management. In addition to her work with Each Inc., she currently serves as a Program Coordinator for a globally-focused women’s initiative. Previously, she has worked for American International Group, Inc. (AIG), Conservative Intelligence (ConservativeHome USA), BBC Worldwide, and the London-based Legatum Institute, where she contributed to programs and analysis examining human dignity, good governance and global development with Each Inc. Founder, Jean Geran. In 2008, Natalie served as an intern to the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs at the White House under the George W. Bush administration. Originally from Western New York, Natalie studied communications, international relations, and political science at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia. She earned an MA in war, violence and security studies from the UK-based University of Sussex. In addition to her work with Each Inc, Natalie has also previously served as a project strategy advisor for STOP THE TRAFFIK’s Finance Against Trafficking campaign. Natalie and her husband, Doug, currently reside in Texas.
Barry Greenan – Business Analyst
Barry is a consultant specialising in project/programme management and business analysis, and has worked with a variety of organisations and industry sectors in the UK and Europe. He has been based in London, UK, for over a decade, and is originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, where he started his career working in a variety of roles at the headquarters of an international mining company. He is passionate about the environment and how people can live and work together sustainably while preserving the planet. Barry studied Computer Science at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, has an MBA from London Business School, and completed a masters-level Strategic Sustainable Development course from the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden.
Matthew Sitek – Field Consultant, Kenya
Matt was an executive for 5 years at Accenture, a global IT and management consulting firm, where he has worked in and consulted for diverse industries in the private, public and non-profit sectors. In addition, Matt has extensive experience with community based child development and enrichment programs in Baltimore, Maryland. Matt has taught entrepreneurship to Baltimore City middle school youth and served as a member of the Entrepreneurship Council (eCouncil) for NFTE Baltimore (Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship). Matt is also founder and former president of a youth education non-profit, Epicenter, which aims to empower youth. Matt has lived and worked in Nairobi, Kenya where he has been able to witness the ingenuity and resolve of youth through mentoring of youth that operate a trash collection business in the ‘slums’ of Nairobi.
Mark Riley – Field Consultant, Uganda
Mark is an experienced consultant having worked for many years with the Welsh Assembly Government delivering both public and private consultancy and project management programs. Mark has been actively involved in Alternative Care and encouraging changes to institutional care since he first visited Uganda in 2001. Based in Uganda since 2010 Mark is currently advising the Ugandan Government on Alternative Care and has developed a number of toolkits to assess and monitor child care institutions. He is currently rolling-out the toolkit across Uganda which includes training all senior district government officials and social workers and doing thorough assessments on every orphanage in Uganda. Mark has been an outspoken critic of unethical international adoption practices and is working with the Ugandan government to address the current issues within the Ugandan system. Mark has been a big supporter of Each Inc since its inception and is delighted to be part of such an exciting project. Mark is married to Keren and they have three children.
Kevin Diaz – Field Consultant, Guatemala
Kevin is greatly vested in bringing change to Guatemala. In the early 80’s before he was born while his mother was pregnant with him, his father was killed in the Guatemalan Civil War. Growing up without a father gave him a passion and drive to help orphans. He has worked in orphanages since he was young and has served as the Vice President of the Board for the Orphanage Foundacion Salvacion in Huehuetenango, Guatemala. Kevin lived the first half of his life in Guatemala and moved to the United States to attend college. He is fluent in both English as Spanish and has dual nationality. He earned a Bachelor of Business Studies in Management Information Systems from Dallas Baptist University in Dallas, Texas. Kevin has more than 13 years of experience in the field of technology. He has experience as a Programmer, Network Administrator, IT Administrator, System Analyst, Web Developer, and a conference speaker in Podcasting and Live Streaming. He has also served as a consultant for non-profit ministries and churches in both the United States and Guatemala. Currently, he serves as the lead for Each Inc.’s project management in Guatemala
Anita Wilhelm – Advisor, Experience Design
Anita Wilhelm is a mobile experience designer and strategist. She has over 10 years experience designing mobile technology solutions for small innovative start-ups and research innovation labs. Having deployed solutions in the US, Asia, and Europe, her work focuses mainly on social-mobile services. Her own early mobile venture received support from the NSF in 2007 for using mobile technology in new playful forms for children’s mobile learning. In 2010, a Ted Global talk was given about her work in collaboration with University of the Arts, Berlin for creating gender-inspired mobile communication services. She has worked with Samsung’s Experience Innovation Lab, T-mobile (Deutsche Telekom) Innovation Lab, Volkswagon R & D, Nokia R & D, Electronic Arts, and a number of innovative mobile start-ups. She holds an MS from UC Berkeley’s iSchool and a BS in Cognitive Science from University of Michigan. She currently lives in San Francisco, CA.
